Today we celebrate midsummers eve here in Sweden, which means an extra day off! Yay!
We are not very big on traditions in my little family, we love Christmas but are pretty low key about the other holidays and tend not to celebrate that much or make up our own traditions. So while most Swedes are busy dancing around the midsummer pole Martin and Wille just arrived on the Island of Zakynthos in Greece for a week in he sun. They are both mad about swimming and water activities so they're going to have a blast I'm sure.
I on the other hand have spent the day weeding and working in the garden which I love to to. I'll be at work next week but these three days off by myself are heavenly, I have to admit. I have a list as long as my arm with projects I want to do. Not need to, want to. Major difference.
Sending them off this morning reminded me of the little going away calendars I used to make for Wille as I went away on business trips. I go abroad about four times a year and some of the trips are week long or sometimes even longer. As Wille was younger I made him little calendars to count down the days until I'd be returning home. Nothing fancy, but he loved them. I kept making them way past the need for them, he was 12 when he got the last one, but that was more for fun than out of necessity obvisously. I don't think he minded :) I have stopped making them now though, I don't want to completely embarrass him...
