Homemade Halloween... We made the grave stone a few years ago and last year our neighbor's thought our cats had died... Obviously not everyone is as into Halloween as we are. The rotting face pumpkin to the back is Wille's, the Scream is Martin's and I made a Martha classic.
I love this little dude! He started out as a little plastic skeleton and Martin and Wille mummified him in tea dipped rags :)

I love the simplicity of the Kivi votive holders. I don't have many Finnish items around the house but I have a lot of Kivi's. They are not even all shown here...
When Wille was younger we went all out on Halloween all week leading up to the 31st. This year I've only hung our sculls and a few other things but..... OMG! What was that????

You would not believe (unless you live here of course...) how dark it has gotten over here since daylight savings started this weekend.
There's absoloutely no way I can take any photos before or after work, there's just no light. That will have to wait until the weekend. I do think it's a great opportunity to share another site with wonderful photos with you though.
I love gardening and I love flowers. I don't do much with them other than put them in vases but check out my friend Minna's blog. She's a florist down south in Sweden, in Skåne. She lives with her family on a beautiful farm, runs her florist business, a blog and a small B&B! I'll have all of the above please!
I love these red and whites. They make me long for Christmas and to maybe do more than just put the hyacinths in pots this year. It's much more country than I am, but I feel totally inspired by seeing these photos.

It's funny. The two colors that I used not to like much at all are suddenly everywhere in our house. One being turquoise and the other one being orange.
I used to hate turquoise and by now you know that shades of it are frequent in the Chez Larsson household. I'm still not keen on my birthstone version of it, that dense flat turquoise but I love all the aqua tones...
As a child in the 70's my room was orange and dark green. Two walls in each color. And dark versions of them too... My bedspread was dark green corduroy with wall hung corduroy pillows with center buttons. All accents where painted or sewn in orange by my mom... There was also an element of dark brown thrown into this lovely mix, like the heavily textured homespun-look curtains in beige and brown. Maybe that led to my hate of orange later on in life?!
Today though it's a fave and pops up more and more often around the house. I'm still not fond of peachy hues or when it's on the verge of going brown. I need my oranges vibrant. Oh, the photo above is for those of you who are wondering how I keep my whites so clean. Obviously I don't... not all the time anyway. That's Bonus making his mark on the home decor :)
Having so much orange around all of a sudden makes for a good Halloween background! Will post more on our decorations later on this week but I prepped by buying some pumpkins today. Apparently Martin and Wille have plans for them already. If I'm good maybe I get to make a stylish polka dot one...
A color you won't get to see around our house though is purple. Not my color at all! It's THE color at the moment apparently but I don't see myself ever having that in our house. Do kind of like lavender... and purple's not far off so... but no. Or maybe?

I didn't post yesterday because I was traveling back home from China via Bangkok. I arrived today at six in the morning and now at ten past seven in the evening I'm dead tired.
I find that staying up and being active during the day without a nap helps relieve jetlag so after I arrived and before Martin went to work (making a grand entrance in his new sports jacket!) and while Wille was still asleep I started cleaning the entire house and loaded the first of three loads of laundry. Later before lunch I raked leaves in the back garden and in the afternoon I finished the book proposal query I'm sending off to the publishers tomorrow (!!!).
Now as I sat down to post I can't think clearly so I'll just say it feels so great to be back home again and I'll see you tomorrow after a good nights sleep in a bed as opposed to the airline seat last night.
