More on storing spices.
First the pretty. Garlic and chili peppers are stored (and displayed) in glass jars on the open shelving in the kitchen.
Then the more practical and not that pretty. In the kitchen pantry I keep two clear plastic containers. They originally contained cookies and I bought the cookies because I wanted the containers they came in. Perfect size and height. And the cookies were pretty good too.
One of the containers holds our spice refills and the spices we rarely use like bay leaf and aniseed stars.
I keep the little bags together with white bull dog clips. Different peppers clipped together, pickling spices together and so on.
The other container holds baking and decorating things. Food colors, sprinkles etc. I always look for fun sprinkles and cake decorations when I travel. My Japanese colored sugars bought in Hong Kong are some of my favourites. Note to self, need replenishing.
