You should have seen the state of our pantry...
Well you are seeing it actually... The pantry is situated downstairs so everyday food stuff is kept in the kitchen but the bulk buys, seldomly used pots and pans, jam jars and some cleaning stuff is kept downstairs. There's also a small extra freezer. Yikes, I cringe at the sight above!
There were shelves already but only a few and to fill the gap at the bottom I temporarily shoved a little shelving unit in there ages ago. Also the third shelf from the top was really rickety so I got rid if the little unit and cut a couple of new shelves out of scrap chip board and MDF.
I got Martin to buy me some more white oil cloth and covered all the shelves in it in the same way as the upstairs cabinet. I love the oil cloth. So easy to lay and so easy to keep clean.
I tossed a lot of glass jars (I could have made eight years worth of jam in all of them) and quite a few other things that we didn't see us using again. Putting everything back was a breeze now that there was so much extra space and it was all shiny and white.
The cleaning stuff and candles are on a separate little shelf above the freezer and I bought a milky white tub with lid and mug/scoop for the cat food. The scales next to the tub used to my mom's but I'm considering upgrading to a slim white digital version and keeping it upstairs. Maybe santa will bring me the scales?! (Hint, hint...)
I'm so sick of having this cold of mine, I've been home sick for two days and I just hope I get well enough to enjoy New York City again this weekend. I'm going no matter what but I'd love to have some energy while I'm there...I leave on Friday which leaves me with a couple of more days to recouperate. Fingers crossed.
