Well almost.
We built our decking at the back of the house about eight years ago and after some years I treated it with wood oil because it looked dry. Oddly enough the oil made it look dingy and dirty so I guess I didn't use a good enough quality or something. It was really disappointing so the last few years I've just cleaned it but now it was just too dry so I figured I'd try something different.
Dry untreated before
I found this product called Dulux with is a spray on oil with stain. I chose "oak" for the stain (pine and ceder being the other options) because our indoor flooring is oak and I like when the floors look similar throughout.
First coat down
The product is used with a special Dulux deck sprayer which was super easy to use, just tip the liquid in there and spray away. I used a large sheet of hard plastic to protect the house and any areas I didn't want the spray to reach and a brush for some fiddely bits around pipes.
Second coat and done!
Because our deck was so dry it took two coats but I'm really pleased with the result. The color turned out great and the finish is somewhat glossy, at least compared to the brittle before. And with the nice, warm weather today I'm pretty pleased! I'll keep you posted on how the treatment looks later on in summer.
