If people who have been to my house would step into the kitchen now they probably won't see that I've spent half of my vacation repainting all the cabinets and trim. It's still white.
This is part of the reason it was time for a new coat of paint. The bottom edges of some of the cabinet doors, especially the ones under the sink area, had water damage or the paint was chipped. Also when I painted the kitchen last time around I left the insides grey and I wanted them white too.
Here they are the doors waiting to be dealt with in several steps.
First I sanded them down on all sides and wiped them clean, all outside in the glorious weather.
After the sanding and wiping they were brought inside and given touch ups of primer where needed. After that there were one to two top coat. All this on both sides. This took forever because of the drying times...
Here's what the kitchen looks like almost naked ( drawers still to be pulled out, emptied and brought outside. While the doors where drying I cleaned all the trim and wood work and painted that as well.
My original plan was to have the doors spray painted professionally but with our current financial situation I couldn't so I used a roller wherever possible and brushed after with an almost dry brush. If you don't use the brush after you get a tiny mottled effect which I didn't want in the kitchen.
To prevent Ms. Mini and Mr. Bonus from walking all over my paint I hung a sheet in front of the door opening from the hallway (there's a pocket door at the other end). They sat on the outside while I was painting away like a mad person inside and meowed and couldn't understand why they couldn't join in the fun...
Like I said, for an onlooker, not much of a difference, but to me a huge upgrade.
