You'd have thought I would be able to paint better after having painted every nook and cranny in our house for eleven years. Actually I did the sloppy job, painting onto the window pane on purpose.
I love this trick. Instead of going really slow or using masking tape you simply slop on paint and don't worry about going over onto the window pane. Just get a little razor blade scraper out after the paint is dry and scrape off the excess!
Look! All gone and a smooth neat edge between wood and window pane.
You do NOT want to do this with mottled glass though, such as the kind you see through the flat window pane in these photos.
If you get paint on a mottled surface make sure to remove it immediately or you'll be in big trouble! Our mottled panes on the outside are a nightmare to clean. Hmmm...also as you can see in this shot there is some dirt trapped between the panes... sigh. It stays, there's no way I'm taking the doors apart at this point.
