Dear, dear Benita
Take the weekend off ... enjoy Spring, your garden and your family for the next 2 days ... I think you need and deserve a break.
Love from Ella

I agree with Ella! Take a break! I also agree about the cup cake and ice cream breaks! I'm whipping up some tasty baked treats tomorrow! I hope they turn out nicely *fingers crossed* Good luck with the painting!

Judith

Hope you get super happy again soon, Benita. Take it easy and keep spoiling yourself - the cupcakes were a great idea!

Kristy

I just love all of your photos! Thanks for sharing.

Ha en riktig härlig helg och grattis igen till färgen!

As soon as that New York state of mind kicks in, you'll cheer up!
Could you tell us how to pronounce your son's name? Is it one or two syllables?
Happy weekend, B. And I LOVE your blog!

I never stop being impressed with the magnitude of tasks you take on and then complete. The fact that you're tired, maybe even a little blue, is normal for this time of the year, when the body is only waking up after the winter slumber, but we push it with the "to-do" lists and alike. Thankfully, at times like this the body in its inherent wisdom takes over, tells our all-knowing mind to stop being so smart all the time, and takes a chocolate cupcake instead. To your many cupcakes moments this summer. Hugs.

It's kind of like vill - eh!

Love the half photo of you in the mirror. It ties in with your 'half' mood. New York and four weeks of puttering around ought to cure it. And you'll get to cross off all those tasks on your list. Now that's a mood lightener!

Four weeks off sounds great! I didn't take that long off in one peace since years...it will do you good
Bonus picture is so cute, fighter and cuddly pet all in one.
What is stucco paint?

Your cat is beautiful!

cassie

awwww kitty snuggles!

Lori in OR (my new name, since there are at least 2 Lori's)

Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I know of you, you would be even more stressed out by relaxing and NOT doing certain jobs than by just plowing through and getting them done... no? I am glad to see that you take time for cupcakes and TV and just hanging out, even if it is at an ungodly hour of the morning!

Christine

I just discovered your blog. It is so awesome I spent the better part of a week in the archives reading it beginning to end. You are so inspiring!
I love your taste in decorating, I also love that you change things so often. (Do you think that has something to do with being in retail and always moving forward?)
I think it's amazing that you can throw almost anything away yet you still have all the old Martha's (me too)
I love the tutorials on cleaning, organization, painting, sewing and carpentry (even though I know I'll never attempt some of them-there are some I can't wait to try and I enjoy reading them none the less)
I like how you make things accessible, there is something so enabling about your attitude - just do it, just try it, even if you don't know how, do it now - I always seem to be waiting for the perfect time or when I know how or have the money... none of which ever seems to happen. It is one thing to be able to get a lot accomplished with unlimited resources but it is even more amazing that your home is so perfect and you didn't spend a fortune (although really, it looks like you did). You have me now saving jars and containers as I love being a bit more organized for free.
Your posts about must have items (l.l bean bags) and clothing uniforms were so interesting (Blundstone's and Birkenstock rate high around here). I also like the one about setting up a craft space step by step.
I think it's incredible that you write in a language other than the one you speak at home, and that you have a sense of humor which is usually so difficult to convey.
I love the posts that you say are boring like the "day in the life" one because I really did want to know how you managed to get so much done and still fit in stuff like sleep and food.
I like, too, that your blog is so real - projects that don't quite work (zig zag tray), bad days, wanting more help around the house- so normal and relatable.
Such a long comment! - I just thought you should know that you are great at this! - I don't understand why you aren't exhausted all the time but as I said in the beginning you are so inspiring ( I sorted out under my kitchen sink for the 1st time in 3 years just because of this blog-yippee!) Thank you, I look forward to your posts. Regards, Christine p.s. you could try Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream (the orange one) for your hands, it seems to work miracles on mine although I've never come close to scraping the entire outside of a house before. Also, I am Canadian and wondered if you had ever seen the magazine Canadian House and Home? I think you might like it. Blueprint was my all time favourite and although CHH isn't really anything like it, I think it is quite good. All the best to you!

Gaby

Benita rules!!!!

Being a silent reader for a long time, just thought that I should drop by and say something... Maybe it´s not important to you, maybe it will not make you "super happy", but I think you should know that many of us find you and your work really inspiring.

Greetings from the other side of the world, and hugs to Mini and Bonus (my two kitties are jealous now!).

Actually I'm not sure if that's the correct term for it. The base of our house, the white bit has a cement type of coating which has cracked in places due to the extreme cold weather. It needs to be patched with a cement mix. It looks like stucco siding on mediterranean houses.

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

Oh, you really do know me!

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

Thank you, that's so sweet of you :)

I have read a few issues of Canadian House and Home which readers have sent me and I really like it!

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

Yay, I rule! :)

I'm always amazed at your diligent work. I would have to hire someone.

Christine

I would be happy to send you a few more Canadian House and Home magazines. It is the least I can do for your constant inspiration!
