So, in the hall I use the old school locker for shoe storage. It’s right next to the front door which is really convenient.
I needed a place for all the key tough and with the doors being metal I came up with the idea to use the inside of one of them for key storage.
I use these heavy duty magnets with hooks and it works really well. It rattles a little bit when the door is opened but because of the magnets the keys partly stick to the magnets as well as hanging off the hooks so it’s not too bad.

great idea and lovely shiney Docs :-)

So jealous of your school lockers! I've been looking for some affordable genuine ones for years.

Where did you get those? It`s just what I need!

I used to wear Docs all the time when I was younger, lace-ups, brogues, loafers etc. I guess I'm reliving the 80's now... :).

I love the locker, shoe storage and all. Fantastic color too.

Ha! I just did an inside-cabinet-door key project too! The door's not metal, but other than that it looks just like yours. It's SO nice to have them all lined up there so orderly and neat, and without having an extra thing on the wall like those silly little key cabinets you can buy.

that's a lot of keys!

That was my first thought, too! Benita, what are they all for?
Car keys, door keys, bike keys, and work keys are all I can think of, and that's a lot more than that it seems.

I didn't get them there but they have them at Clas Ohlson!

Doors; Front, back, basement + garage + inner doors.
Windows.
Suitcases.
Three bikes + extra locks for them.
Padlocks. A gazillion of those for some reason.
? = they came with the house and I need to hold on to then until I figure they don't go anywhere...

I like that locker a lot. I was thinking that the shelves are pretty far apart. If you added two more shelves, you could keep more shoes, or something else there, like shoe polish kit. on the other hand, if the shelves are far apart, you can fit taller, winter boots.
Great magnets for the keys too.

That's a lot of keys! Neat and practical though. I really like the skateboards there as well.

I wonder if lining the inside of the door with something (paper/fabric/thin felt) would dampen the noise without affecting the magnets? Not a suggestion, just thinking out loud.

Love the colour of your locker. Seems very practical.

great solution! we have an antique key box in our old cottage, lots of hooks, a hundred wonderful old keys, who knows what they are for. i just like looking at them.
i love the lockers too, so great. i'm not fond of looking at everyone's shoes! x

My thoughts exactly, was thinking felt would do the job. Oh and hi Benita, my first comment however I have 'stalked' you for about 2 yrs hehehe :-) I love the way you make yr home work for you and not vice versa. My bookmarks read 'Chez Larsson' but translate to 'I am sooo doing this when I have the money'.(As a side, am i the only one that feels like a druggie in need of their next fix everyday when they turn on the lappy and go straight here?)

Loved what you did with the keys. And the school locker too. But do you know what I love best in your blog? It is the fact that you write to 'us' every day. Thanks for adding something beautiful to our lives every day :)

I love how people use lockers in their decor. That's such a beautiful blue. I hope I have a space that will accommodate them someday.

Yum, love those lockers, the white scheme sets them off perfectly! Wille's skate boards look great too: who needs pictures x

Have you taken up longboarding or does Wille have two boards?
I really like your shoe cabinet too.

That is such a great idea! I love the surfboard next to the lockers - very beachy. :) And I can't believe you have so many keys! lol

One is Martin's which he didn't want to take with him.

This is great! Wondering how you hung the long boards and if the same could be done for regular skateboards since we have a mix of both.
Posted by: jRob | July 21, 2011 at 11:45 PM
Here's how http://chezlarsson.com/myblog/2010/07/hanging-the-longboards.html. I'm sure it works for skateboards too.

Hi Benita,
Can you send me a link to the Shoe Locker? I can't find it on Clas Ohlson's homepage.

Sorry, the locker's not from there, the magnets are. We found the locker in a dumpster.
