So with the switcharoo and with the old wardrobes above getting turned into office supply storage where did my clothes end up?
I simply carried everything downstairs in to the former pantry which I'd already turned into a storage room. Just needed to rearrange a few things but after that I could devote the whole right side to clothes storage. And no, it isn't damp in there either. I'm actually amazed at how dry this basement is. There isn't even a radiator in there but I keep the door ajar so the heat from the the rest of the basement gets in there too.
I love the switch because the downside to having the wardrobes upstairs was that I had to draw the blinds on both the street side and the park side when getting dressed or undressed. Now I just get in here and no worries about showing too much of anything. Not that there's a whole lot to see...
Overall I'm so pleased how this all went about. I haven't had to buy a lot of new stuff (I did get a few things but I was going to get them anyway but use them differently in the old layout) and there wasn't a whole lot of major work involved, just a bit of reorganizing.

tjusigt :D

Oooh sombreros!

Smart girl :-)

I saw that too! I think we need a picture of Benita modeling one :)
Posted by: Judith | February 09, 2012 at 08:44 AM
Yeah, I'm going to have to find a new spot for that one. It's not something I wear very often :).

Och som du kommer njuta av att bo i källaren i sommar! I mina föräldrars hus var det nästan så att vi allihop flyttade ner i källaren när det var varmt, klibbigt och ljust på övervåningen!

I would LOVE to live in that basement. A space haven.

Ooh how lovely Benita - you've created your very own walk-in wardrobe... i can just imagine a gorgeous full-length mirror on that wall, surrounded by twinkly fairy lights to brighten your mornings as you get dressed! x

I was wondering where you are going to put up a cabinet. But this is whole lot better.
Posted by: Leena | February 09, 2012 at 09:11 AM
I'm just about to order a full length mirror for there and one for te inside of Wille's wardrobe :). Nice idea with the twinkle lights! With one of those motion sensors!

What a great space, so organized. I also think that you will enjoy your new bedroom, so much more private than before. It may be in the basement but it sure does'nt look dark/gloomy !

Just love your new bedroom. Curious about the new rug witch I suppose is quite important to give the room a more warm and cosy look. Sleep tight!

a dressing room, no less. xx
Posted by: elisa | February 09, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Wonderful! I use my closet as a dressing room also and have only a small amount of clothing. easy to organize, store and launder! do love the idea of the twinkly lights with the mirror and the dimmer!

You for sure have now amazing office room! I would kill for that much storage.
Since basement is an open space would you use some curtains to to protect things from dust etc.?
Posted by: jja | February 09, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Even if the basement did get damp, you can always use a dehumidifier. There's probably little to no dust down there so you wouldn't really need a closet door, right?
I'm looking forward to the sombrero modeling shot, too. ;)

Love it and the bonus is that you can see everything without opening several doors. Changes like this really make it seem like a different house in a way. Looking forward to seeing your home office set up!

This is fantastic. I love the not having to close the curtains comment - am always being lazy and squeezing into the corner of my bedroom to change rather than draw the blinds.
Product question: is that Elfa shelving in the closet? Are you happy with it? Am considering getting it for a storage area in my house but it seems a bit pricey. Is it worth it?

LOVE that this is your entire wardrobe! And I think this whole move has worked beautifully!

We have to be inventive to get our house just the way we want. I'm doing some renovations myself at home and I see that sometimes we have just what we need but not well organized. I just love the way your closet looklike. :)

Vad fint det blev både med det nya sovrummet och garderoben:)
Posted by: Anna | February 09, 2012 at 04:33 PM
Wow, now you have a full dressing room! Once you have the mirror you'll be all set. Does it have room for a ottoman and a full jewelry display case like the fancy mansions? Just kidding. I like how accessible the clothes are, you really see what you have and what you use.
Posted by: Giulia | February 09, 2012 at 04:37 PM
Lol! I saw those, too, and was hoping that -like the exercylce- they would get more use being in plain sight! ;)

I'm so loving these posts! I love moving furniture around and watching someone else do it is almost as fun! I bet you can't wait till the weekend when you have large blocks of time to organize and get things set how you want! :)

Haha

The closet has a door and all the other storage is already closed off by curtains in the bedroom.
Posted by: Benita ~ Chez Larsson | February 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
There is a door actually!
Posted by: Benita ~ Chez Larsson | February 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
It IS Elfa and SO worth the extra money! I've had cheaper systems in the past and did't have as big a selection of widths and depths and functions and also that line was discontinued so when I needed more there wasn't any more to be had. With Elfa you're set for life!

I like how your closet seems so effortless. Not a lot of pieces and everythign in order. Can you post about how you shop for outfits and how you keep your fashion so tidy. I have not seen m(any) posts about this subject and now that I think about it it would be great to know how Benita does fashion.

Very nice! Your new bedroom is giving me space envy... Love the sombrero. ;)
Posted by: Marjorie | February 09, 2012 at 06:15 PM
Even though I really enjoy my job at the moment I DO live for the weekends :)
Posted by: Benita ~ Chez Larsson | February 09, 2012 at 08:18 PM
The thing is I don't really do fashion... I did write a post about it over two years ago and my "style" is still the same, minus the wedding bands :) http://chezlarsson.com/myblog/2009/07/my-look.html

Thanks so much for the feedback. Elfa 30% off sale ends this weekend, so looks like I'll be ordering some. Ha en skon helg!
