Dip Dye Fail?

So after seeing several cool dip dye projects such as this one I decided to try my hand on one. I had a pillow case that I half dipped in green fabric dye. And then I threw in a second pillow case in the dye bath just for the fun of it.

 

I’m pretty sure I consider the second pillow case (the one at the back) a fail (all blotchy but not in a tie dye good (?) way) but I’m still on the fence about the dip one. I don’t like that there’s a sharpish line between the green and the white but I do kind of like the idea of the half green half white.

What do you think? Is it a keeper or a tosser? Maybe it just doesn’t go with the grey? Or maybe it’s just plain ugly. Tell me.

Wille's Desk Corner

While Wille was away in London and I was working on a project in his room (which I’ll show you later) I realized that I’ve not shown you what his desk corner looks like.

Above you see the before, what it looked like when we viewed the house the first time a little over a year ago. Mottled wallpaper with greasy head marks and blue lino floor with slipper marks around the bed area all intact.

 

The lino was quick to go as I’ve showed you before. Tearing it and the hundreds of nails up alongside was one of the first projects I did in the house as I wanted Wille to settle in well right away.

 

Lino all gone and already such a vast improvement. That stain on the right is the aforementioned grease mark. I know. Eughh!

 

Grease mark gone via several coats of white paint.

 

I had my contractors help me lay the oak floor so it would be ready prior to moving in.

 

Such a huge improvement! I’m telling you, if you want a good base for your home, get uniform floors, ceilings and walls, in my case oak + white. After that you can start personalize with colors. Or in my case, not.

 

Wille needed a new desk because the one we built at the old house didn’t really fit the new space. We went for the longest off the rack IKEA kitchen counter top available and plonked it on top of two Alex drawer units.

And here it is, Wille’s desk corner. It’s not always this tidy though.

Egg Craft Guest Post

Any Advice on a Wide Angle Lens?

Since you guys always give the best advice I’m hoping you can help me out. Again.

See these realtor’s photos of our living room from a year ago? I would love to do exact befores and afters much like I did of our old house here, here and here. The problem is that the photographer shot these with a wide angle lens and there’s no way I can replicate that with what I currently have lens wise.

Any advice on an affordable wide angle lens for a Canon DSLR? Affordable kind of being the operative word.

366: Day 79-85

A certain someone will be 18 in a few weeks time (how did this happen?!) so I got some gift bags in preparation. He IS the best.

 

Wille btw was on a school trip to London Monday – Thursday so I started on a project in his room while he was away. Nothing to do with the guitar though.

 

Cooking a new recipe for dinner. Very aware that Wille probably won’t like it involving zucchini. But he LOVED it when we had the left overs when he got home.

 

Went to IKEA after work. We finally have a patio table! And some pots. And some hangers. And some shelves. And some batteries. And then some. How can you (I) can never go to IKEA to buy just one thing?

 

Bonus and Mini spend more time on our neighbors’ decks than in our own back yard. They and I are so over these cold, hard and uneven pink slabs.

 

Love the color and shape of these tulips. Too bad they’re all over the place. Stand straight in your vase dudes!

 

Seriously, Mom, get on with the new yard already!
