Remember the bookend I made a couple of years ago?
I don’t use it as a bookend any longer.
It now stands in as a door stopper so Bonus who likes to escape to the basement when freaked out (it happens more often and for more reasons than you can imagine) can do so without finding the door accidentally shut.
Happy weekend!

He,he cats are funny like that! I have a norwegian forest cat(which by the way I found abandonned in the streets and immediately fell in love with) who scares the hell out of her on most occasions, running downstairs and hiding inside the old fireplace ;)

I am sure he appreciates the thought!

Poor sensitive Mr. B! I love that "his" new door stop has a "B" on it. Hopefully, having your lovely bed down there is a comfort to him when he's hiding out!

Like our cat Oboy - if you accidently walks to fast into the room, his fur is suddenly twice the size. Not to mention if you sneez...

Poor Bonus.
Mine hates any sort of plastic bag noise or someone unloading the cutlery from the dishwasher.
She forgot I was in the room once and when I moved she got so scared she tried to run through the closed back door :-(

Our kitties are like that too! I finally installed a kitty door for them in the basement door - Now we keep the litter box down there too!

I'd say the letter B is now for Bonus - purrfect!
I spotted it during your hallway works-progress photos and I thought you were using is as a kind of weight, i didnt know Bonus owned it now! :)
Happy weekend to you all!

Bonus? The adventurer, the gone-for-days-on-end tough guy, the I-can-manage-in-the-wild-without-Benita big cat, scared? Funny :-). Trevlig helg!

HA! My cat Puppy is just like this too! He is a true scaredy cat!

It's the first time i'm hearing about the bookend, i followed the link and i must say it's amazing the things you do, Benita :) and yes Gül you are right the B now stands for Bonus. And please tell us about the other things that make him go to the basement, it must be very funny considering that he once spent almost 2 weeks away...Bunus seems to me a Fearless Super Cat :) Have a nice weekend eveyone!!!

What a great idea, I like that you have even padded the bottom with felt.
Years ago when our kids were babies, they used to freak out our cat who would hide in the basement (it's where her food and litterbox were too.) We ended up using a 7" long gate latch high up on the door so that it could be held ajar so that the cat could go downstairs, but the kids couldn't fit.

We have some kind of stop in every door (most of ours are beanie baby kind of things that the cats like to sleep on). We don't want any door to be able to be shut accidentally--had that happen once when we were out for a day--came home to two cats stuck in a room without a litter box for about 15 hours--not a good thing.

I didn't even think of that! Perfect! Or, purrrrfect... :)

That may be your simplest "re-do" yet! Have a great weekend!

Lucky cat- I wish I had a hideaway for every time I get 'freaked out'. Happy weekend Benita.

great idea. But, is it just me, or is that door to the basement really thin?

Hi Marcia ;o)

I was thinking the same thing about the "B"!

Little Miss Mini is the feisty brave one in this household :)

He's scared of EVERYTHING. Any little noise (opening soda bottles, scrunching up paper, sneezing...), any sudden move, someone walking by outside etc, etc.
Posted by: Benita ~ Chez Larsson | March 09, 2012 at 06:45 PM
Haha, I could use one of them too!
Posted by: Benita ~ Chez Larsson | March 09, 2012 at 06:45 PM
It sure looks like it but it's only at the sides, about half an inch in the door is about an inch and a half thick.

I was surprised that Bonus is the one who gets scared! I always considered him so adventurous.

I think I must make one of these. Have all sorts of books and one Bernadette around here that it would make sense for.

Bonus must be feeling special to know he has his own lettered door-stopper! Haha.
