So in this post I showed you my online auction loot including this Alvar Aalto bench. Like I said the birch is a bit off the beaten track for me and while I’m fully getting used to it I wanted to freshen it up a little and dip the bench’s feet. I also promised I wouldn’t paint it. And I haven’t.
Instead I used shiny white adhesive vinyl. It was probably one of the easiest and quickest way’s I’ve ever spruced up a piece of furniture.
So quick in fact that while I was at it I also added a couple of stripes on top.
Fun for now and easy to remove when the dipped craze has come to an end.

You are so smart and tasteful!

Toppenidé! Den ser genast mycket fräschare ut. :-)

Ooh, must point that out to Ms. Bench so she doesn't commit a fashion faux pas in my bedroom!

Nice! Would you mind to let me know the name of the pattern of the cushion and the designer's name? I know it's a Scandinavian classic but hard to get in Germany. I like it so much.
Thanks.

Clever and gorgeous! I tried finding Vinyl tape at German amazon, unsuccessfully. Would you mind sharing the brand? Or some other detail that would help me find something similar? Thank you!

The fabric on the cushion is by Orla Kiely. I got it as a scrap from a duvet cover on Ebay.

This is the first design thing you have done that I haven't totally gone along with...a tiny touch of natural birch (the bench) looked gorgeous (I thought) with all your white and gray. But then you put vinyl on instead of paint and I realized, "genius! She can try the look out with the white and change it back if she wants to"... so you really are very clever!

Is this just a Sweden thing? I've never heard of it over here (U.S.).
Not a fan of the look, myself, but you applied the paper so perfectly it looks professionally done.

it says Konrad Hornschuch AG, 74679 Weissbach on the back so I guess you're in luck because that's in Germany :)

Pff, ha, ha! :) Thank you for taking the time to check.

The vinyl is like jewelry.

Love to revamp stuff with adhesive vinyl, especially white. I have attached it on small tables and I like that you did 2stripes on the top also to really make it personal. It makes the furniture float. I have done the sam principle when painting something made out of wood all white, I leave just like 8 mm woodtrim at the bottom which makes the furniture "float" and it ties everything visally together much better in a room.
