So, again thank you so much for all the great advice and camera tips the other week. I made my decision fairly quickly after that. My original plan was to wait until December to get my new gear but once I had figured out what I wanted I couldn’t wait and placed my order. Now I’m waiting impatiently for my Canon 5D Mark II. Yay! Not the waiting part but the camera. I’m so excited as so many of you had so much good to say about it. I also went to check it out at a local camera store and they also gushed over it.
I also got the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens like planned and I’m excited to check out the difference between it and the 50mm f/1.8 I have now.
The second lens decision was the hardest one to make and I sure hope what I finally decided on will work out. After checking out several options live at the store I didn’t go for a zoom lens which I kind of thought I would but instead opted for a wide angle one, the Canon EF 24mm F2.8 IS USM.
So now I’m a lady in waiting, the 24mm lens was out of stock when I ordered and they waited for everything to be ready before shipping so it has taken longer than expected to arrive.
The roses I got are still going strong. even as I write this on Sunday.
If last week was unexciting this week was better. Martha follows me on Pinterest! But wait, it gets better.
Look what I got in the mail! remember when I got all the Martha goodies? Turned out there was a legal issue with me entering in the competition because I’m not a US resident and they were sorry for the confusion and sent me a consolation gift. How sweet is that? With all this you’d think I’d be on Martha’s Christmas card list this year, haha!
First snow! I couldn’t get a good photo outside because it started snowing late at night but then Wille called me when he went into the bathroom to brush his teeth. Snow!
My man.
Twice a year we have a large dumpster in our neighborhood where we can drop off garden debris which is so great. Wille and I cleared the back yard on Friday night and I went to check on the frosty result on Saturday morning in my pj’s. Still some leaves to fall off the apple tree but I’ll just add them to the compost as they fall.
My friend Sanna and I had planed to got to a retro fair this weekend but it turned out to be cancelled so instead we went to Moderna Museet and saw the Picasso vs. Duchamp and the Wolfgang Tillmans exhibitions. We weren’t impressed but we did spend an awfully long time in the museum shop.
I mean how can you resist something as weird and wonderful? I got them at an online auction only to realize that they are MUCH bigger than I expected. There was a measurement mentioned but I wasn’t really paying attention and figured “how big can they be? Turns out quite big actually.
The next question was “where do the go”? I know, silly me, buying stuff at auction that I haven’t seen live and have nowhere to put but like I said they were irresistible.
And I did find spots for them in the end! I replaced the very simple lamp bases I just recently got at IKEA, was able to reuse those lampshades here and I love how they turned out on either side of my bed. Still weird but oh so wonderful!
This is the view from my armchair towards the TV corner and those swaggy cords have been bugging me ever since I attached them.
I know, that was I thinking? The thing was that the thinner cord was actually already there, it’s the cord for the TV antennae. So when I added the actual TV I used regular cable clips but because there were already small clips there it ended up looking silly.
So I got me some of these and these and started over.
That feels so much better! Neat and tidy, just the way I like it.
