So I thought I’d share some details on how I’ve organized the hobby room outside of what’s hidden in the actual cabinets and drawers.
On the right when you enter from the main room there’s a short wall next to the door and there I keep a small step ladder, standing broom and pan and a trash can. I also keep a hand broom and pan there which I use for sweeping the counter tops after crafting or DIYing.
A notice board (which I just sprayed white) is great for little notes of measurements etc.
Here you can see how the counter tops turned out with the grey side up. I love that I was able to just flip them over and am now taking better care of them than when I was DIYing every day and dripped paint all over them.
I love using trays to corral projects and here are the last two handles that I have to fit on the bathroom upstairs and the tray keeps all the little bits like screws and such in order.
I also keep a roll of paper towels so I can quickly wipe up any spills. The little mini trash can is another practical feature.
In it I toss all the little bits that would otherwise clutter the counter tops. Left over screws from projects, little odd bits and pieces etc. If I don’t have the time or feel like organizing them into their proper places right away, I just toss them in there via the flip top. Once in a while I empty it all out and sort it.
I also keep two baskets at one end of the counter and the one on the left holds my chargeable screw driver/drill which I use all the time and like to keep easy to reach. The charger also fits in there so I can whip it out when ever. The other basket holds small projects or materials for projects. At the moment amongst a few other things there are some Command hooks in there. I’m so happy they are finally available over here!
And that concludes the tour of the hobby room.

Absolutely LOVE the idea of the little trashcan for spare parts.... stealing it!

I too love the trashcan for the little bits. What a marvellous idea. I leave my "little bits" on the entry table, which then roll everywhere, like on the floor, before I put them to where they belong.
Thanks for the tour and I love the brooms.

That is a great idea with the mini trash bin for odd bits. I'm actually getting a large big tranbin the same size as the one I have right now to keep trashbags, cleaning detergents and sweeps and dustpans there. It's much more comfortable and hopefully keeps my kitchen more organized and my drawers more empty.

Hi Benita,
I am a very big fan of you. and your house! Unbelievable that you have everything for ideas and then also converts. I look every day purely with you .. and I also especially like your two cats.
If you ever come to Germany, please look at my past ... I also live alone with my two children here and there really must organize a lot ... :) :)

Oh, I love the Black Forest! My uncle and aunt used to live there so I spent most of my childhood summers on their farm in Obergebisbach! They have now moved to Auggen though.

Oh, Craft Heaven!!! I used to have a sewing room, which was a dream, but it was so disorganized! I wish I had one now but alas, most NYC apartments do not have so much space! So I live vicariously through you...

Oberegisbach ... is about 80 km away from me ... very charming there!
That your mother is from Germany, I have experienced here in the blog so.
I always wanted to go and see more of Sweden ... I was 5 years ago on a weekend in Stockholm, I was intrigued ... and it is there just as cold as in the Black Forest ... hehe
