I don’t go on a lot of shopping sprees but occasionally I do make the rounds at the local Stockholm design stores and design departments.
On a recent one (recent for me that is, this was back in early November) I went to shop for a 2013 diary but as things happen I also got a few more things.
I like my diaries to be simple and I’ve stuck to the same pocket diary for the past ten years but after I changed positions at work with new tasks and more meetings I needed a bigger one. This year I’m trying one from Ordning & Reda and got a wall calendar for home from there too.
Here’s the pocket one. Or rather it doesn’t really fit in my pocket anymore so it’s more of a purse (or in my case tote) one. I think it’s meant to go in a binder so it has a really simple cardboard cover which I know won’t last a year’s worth of schlepping around. I chose it anyway because it’s much slimmer than the hard cover ones and thus much lighter. Remember I don’t drive around with my tote bag, I carry it on public transportation and every ounce counts!
So what I did to protect it was to stick some adhesive white shiny adhesive on it.
So simple. Just cover and trim the edges.
Because we plan a lot of meetings and tasks way ahead I’ve already used it for quite a while and I really like its bigger size and its easy wipe (and now glossy, pretty, shiny) cover.
And with the new year started my wall calendar is obviously also up and running. I like how this one has three columns per day so Wille and I each have one and then I use the first one to plan blog posts (secret!).

I thought the pocket calendar looked quite good as it was, but now it looks even better.
I have the same napkins :)

Love the wall calendar! Wonder if we have anything like it here? Hmmm....
My favorite journals already have a surface like that. A simple student note book works for me, too.
You are sooooo right about needing less weight to schlep things around on public transportation. I always have to remind the baggers at the grocery that I'm "afoot, not horseback." They love to load the bags up to the brim because many people then drive them home.

Ooooh, I have been running around to find such a nice wall calendar with three (!) colums, one for me, one for the man and one for the baby/family but I absolutely did not find one over here. I even considered to buy a very long ruler to create one myself as you did a while ago but the simple calendars where not broad enough. I ended up with a "family calendar", five colums, colourful anf "funny" lttle pictures. Meh!

oh. i love all things stationery. i think it might stem from my love of list making! i sat in bed filling in my new muji 2013 desk diary last night - felt super organised and ready to tackle 2013 (a feeling that never lasts - i need to take a Benita organising class!)

I love wall calendars with a column for each person in the house. We've used this one from Kikki K for the last few years, http://www.kikki-k.com/diaries-calendars/family-calendar-gift-pack-winterland - it has 6 columns which works well for our family of five.

I'm wondering what the weekly set-up is inside the pocket calendar. I went on their website but can't see anywhere it shows you the inside of the planner?

It's got 6 columns, one per week day and 1/2 for Saturday and Sunday.

We use a wall calendar like this one, but it doesn't look half as good as yours. It's just useful...

I read regularly but I've never commented - I love your blog and I also love this project! What type of adhesive paper did you use? And, did you lay the book flat and trim around the piece once it was attached? I want to try with a Muji notebook. Thanks.

I just used what I had at home. I think it's the type you line shelves with. Yes, I did exactly like you describe.

Hi Benita,
May I ask where you bought the Marseilles soap? I was going to buy it from the U.S. but my suitcase was already full. I'm going to ask my sister to bring it over from Stockholm when she travels. Thanks, and happy new year!

I got mine at Room in PUB but they also have them at Åhléns City and various home decor stores. If you want the white one I have I'd send her to Room because I've rarely seen it elsewhere. It's unscented.
