My condolences. We can comfort ourselves with the fact Mr. Mouse II had an active and fulfilled life.

Judith

Aw, RIP Mr. Mouse II! Mine is also one of my favorite tools but I have a feeling he'll last a long time since I don't use him very much.

Love the rotating base on the new one but BLAH about the flying dust. Seems like they'd fix it so that didn't happen.

Ava

Great to read you are "back in business" : ) You are amazing in using tools, wow!

You have inspired me and my husband to fix our home office this winter: we changed the book shelves into white cabinets and bought also a large desk. However that wasn' the largest job but organizing all our stuff! Lost of this and that, books never read - like a lost and foun office! All furniture is ready but we are still in the middle of the organizing. So you blog gives me hope to survive : )

Libris

Btw, can you place to vacuum cleaner pipe into the new Mr to suck all the dust?

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

Unfortunately it 's just not practical to do so on the narrow stairs.

rebeccaNYC

Sorry for your loss, Benita! He had a long, interesting life!

Trisha

I was barely awake when I read this and for a second saw it as "RIP Mini" and almost passed out! Whew...

KMP Modern

So sad to hear about Mr. Mouse, but you did the right thing. You went out and got his big brother to get the job done. It looks great so far. Good luck and keep us posted.

Tabitha

I really love my little mouse so I am very sorry for your loss =(

Marcia M

I don't understand a thing about tools but the new mouse does say "cyclonic action" so maybe that's the reason the dust flies so much ;-)

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

Haha, I was kind of hoping it would be the other way around :).

M.E.

beware of flying dust! make sure you cover your laptop/computers/etc. well with plastic. That dust gets inside your technology and just sands the connections away without your knowing it. When I combined two small apartments into one, they hung up plastic over every door to contain the dust. what a nightmare. There must be a sander that doesn't spew dust all over--one with a bag or something. good luck!

Angela

Aw, I'm sorry about your loss! I am sure you will get used to his big brother though, he must have some extra special features that his little bro didn't have. :)

Sorry to hear about the loss of your right hand mouse. Nothing better than a good tool!

Don't they make sanders with bag/vacuum attachments to suck up the dust as you make it?

minna

I love all professional tools. Makita´s products are my favorites.

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

They do and I've tried them but the bag's usually in the way and emptying it is as dusty as not using it at all unfortunately

Sue

After reading your blog and Sherry's (YHL) I bought a mouse sander for working on a house my sister and I bought together. It made an enormous(e) difference to the decorating effort! When we finished the house and she moved in, rather than battle over custody of said mouse, I bought another for myself. Thanks for all the tips and inspiration, can't wait to get my own new house to start putting a few more storage ideas into practice.

Tisha

I just bought a mouse here in the US. Maybe on your trip to NYC, you can stop in a hardware store and get a new one? It seems like it would be worth keeping both around...

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

It's not that they're not available over here they just didn't have it in the store I went to and I needed one immeditely. I don't have a car so I couldn't go to the "next" store and couldn't wait for one by ordering one online. And besides we don't have the same electrical current over here :).

Tisha

Oh, right, I knew that about the electric (actual plugs are different, too, right?). At least it's good to know the option's still there!
