Congrats to your son :-) Could tell me a bit more about the graduation cap? I have friend in Denmark and they did the same thing, but can't remember what she told me about it!

It's tradition to wear these at graduation and they're usually put on officially for the first time on Walpurgis night, April 30th, with a celebration. Nowadays there are a lot of variations to choose from, Wille's is one of the simpler ones. He only chose hos first name and class at the front. When I graduated I don't remember there being any variations and we didn't have embroidery. I went to a French school though so mine was tri color on top which was unusual. Like this (but without emboidery)http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mkSlKACoRvY/T6VL8HWrRJI/AAAAAAAAEl8/KS1Jb1JvATA/s1600/IMG_7628.JPG You can read more about student caps here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_cap

What is Gymnasiet? Is that like high school? Sorry for my ignorance.

Benita ~ Chez Larsson

It's translated to upper secondary school (in Willes case upper secondary technical school)in British English and (senior)high school in American English. Wille's 18 and started school at 6 so this is his final 13th year at school. Yay!

I love the subtle use of yellow

Went to research Gymnasiet - I love learning new things.

Here in Canada it sounds like the equivalent would be a Collegiate Institute, other options for secondary (grades 9-12)education are Technical or Commerce; in Toronto each catchment area for schools in the city have each of the 3 streams and you can pick which you want to attend depending on your intentions for post-secondary schooling/work. I think they were far more strict in the the past about proper streaming, most people attend the one closest to home now. Thankfully ours is a Collegiate Institute which is what our kids intend to do.

We use the mortar board caps for graduation here, though hardly anyone does the toss in the air that they show in movies.

Have to comment on your Friday crush (and previous crush list). I agree that so many popular stars I just don't quite get. Some of my favorites for years are the SAMS-Sam Waterston, Sam Elliott and Sam Shepard. They are aging extremely well....

Bonus looks like he's been spending more time lounging at home lately!

April

Thanks for clarifying. Congratulations, Wille!

Congrats to Wille and to you. When my son graduated from university, he yelled "I'm so done!" in the middle of the university's common. Two years later he was in law school. Love the sons and their pathmaking!
