Wrapping
A box of materials arrived, most of it too traditional, some of it perfect.
Wrapping season, and a parcel of materials turned up to help with it, a standing arrangement with a craft supplier since a challenge I entered last year, a box every couple of months and no obligation to write about any of it.
This one was very traditional and quite dark red, which is not where I am this year. But there were some genuinely good things in it.
The good bits
The green ribbon. Not a green, the green. The exact one, which almost never happens when someone else chooses.
Tiny jingle bells. Gift tags. Bows, in the same green.
All of it got used.
What it went with
The rest came from what was already here, which is how most of the wrapping in this house happens.
Plain white paper as the base for nearly everything, with a single-colour ribbon over it. White paper and one ribbon colour costs almost nothing, never clashes, and makes whatever you put on top the thing people actually look at.
A scrap of wallpaper, cut into a strip and run down the length of a white parcel. Coarse white string, which on a plain white parcel does more work than ribbon. Small paper leaves and a jingle bell on the ones for children.
That is the whole method, really: one plain paper, one good ribbon, and small odd things from the offcut drawer. Nothing here needs a matching set.
